A Little Bit About Us
Little Hearts Academy was birthed out of a need to positively impact the lives of children and their families in our community. We were founded to provide an interconnected suite of care and education services to families. When we looked at the childcare industry, we saw a gap that needed to be filled. So, we made it our mission to become a reflection of the values and aspirations of families who want to raise good kids who are successful in their lives and love Jesus.
We see ourselves as a Christian school that encourages a relationship with God for our children, staff and families. We endeavor to create an experience for you and your child that is an extension of your loving home.
Little Hearts Academy attracts and retains staff members who have a true heart for children. Our academy is professionally managed and staffed by teachers and administrators who seek to contribute to your child’s growth in loving and meaningful ways – for a positive impact that lasts a lifetime.
Our team of early childhood educators strives to use developmentally appropriate practices, focusing on the child's social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, physical and aesthetic growth.
Situated in Kansas City, our daycare is easy to access via major roads and public transport, such as the East US Highway 40, making it convenient for parents to access during their commute between work and home.
Since our start in 2021, we have worked incredibly hard to create the best possible childcare service in Kansas City. Our team is working continuously to improve our facility and ensure that we are always following the latest and most up-to-date industry practices.

What We Believe
At Little Hearts Academy, we firmly believe that the love of Christ can be experienced early in a child's development. We believe in inspiring excellence in learning. We nurture an enthusiasm for learning, providing an atmosphere wherein children may express creativity, discern truth, think critically, and choose wisely. We place a strong emphasis on social and emotional development. We teach children how to resolve conflicts and be respectful of others. We believe that every child is unique and special in their own way. We believe children learn and grow when they have a strong sense of belonging and are surrounded by positive energy in a positive environment. Children need to feel safe, secure and supported by their primary caregivers.
Our founder and CEO, Yolanda Nero has a heart and love for children. She believes that children in childcare should feel safe and loved while being academically prepared and learning about God’s love. She earned a BA in MHR, MA in Business, MA in Procurement and MA in Missional Studies with emphasis in Urban Core.
Spiritual Development
Our mission is to develop lifelong learners with a heart for God, who grow, as Jesus did, in knowledge, wisdom and stature. Part of this is with our Weekly Chapel Program, which is a key component in that effort. Chapel is a time for reverence, prayer, and community.
Spiritual Development is an important part of what we do at Little Hearts Academy. We help children develop a personal relationship with God through reading God’s word, memorizing scripture, building character, praise and worship, and prayer. Children are able to learn about the story of the Bible – God’s plan to rescue His people through His son, Jesus Christ.
We are non-denominational and teach basic biblical truths, supported by stories and lessons from the Bible. We provide our teachers and chaplains with curriculum and teacher tools (including age-appropriate Bible study video content from “RightNow Media”) in our unique spiritual development program.
At Little Hearts Academy we use the Creative Curriculum. The Creative Curriculum is an educational approach that integrates the arts, creativity, and hands-on learning activities into daily lessons. It aims to foster holistic development and promote critical thinking skills. We empower children to be confident, creative, and caring learners throughout their time at Little Hearts Academy and into their next educational steps. Through interactions with other children and educational materials, your child will learn about the world while forming friendships that could last a lifetime.
